Engaging Our Wild
As part of its ongoing support for cultural outreach and women’s empowerment through artistic projects, The Arete Fund (www.aretefund.net) and the Ladies of Wild Things will host a 3-day art retreat at the Tittle Lake House in Karnack, Texas for a small (8-10) cohort of women.
In a primordial landscape rich in history, birdsong, and the wilder gifts of Mother Nature, we will explore the idea of wildness relative to its role in creativity and living well, that is, in harmony with the self and doing with authenticity, boldness and passion, things both creative and mundane. To be wild is to seek an edge where tame and ordinary yields to the forceful tug of imagination and we become explorers of extraordinary new territories of art and soul.
Join a community of like-minded women who want to chase beauty, make art, share stories and laughter. Sit on the dock and sip coffee as the morning mist recedes from the lake surface. Take time to pause and engage deeply with the wilderness and each other. Return to what enriches us.
We invite women of all ages and artistic abilities who desire replenishment, rest, and inspiration. We hope the retreat's combination of art-making, delicious food, personal interactions and the spectacular landscape will make us stronger so that we may better impact the world with our respective gifts and callings. Through the retreat, we mean to exit the familiar terrain of our daily lives and return home to ourselves, finding within a brave, wild woman waiting.
